There is nothing worse than turning on your stove in the heat of summer. I’ve found making food in foil packets kills two birds with one stone. Cooking on the grill instead of the stove saves what little cool air I have in my house, since it isn’t air conditioned. There is almost no dishes involved, making my dishwasher, Zach happy.
Here is a new foil packet I recently created, Pork Chop Potato Foil Packet.
Start off with a large piece of foil. Butter makes it better, so a good tablespoon of it smeared over what will be bottom of packet with prevent anything from sticking, while also adding flavor.
Scrub your potatoes next, I figure 1 per person, and slice withe the skin on. Shake some garlic salt, dried onion and a little seasoning salt on them. Then drizzle with a little olive oil. Toss it with your hands to mix all that around.
Next throw your pork chop on top of the potatoes. I recommend a boneless pork loin chop that is no thicker than a 1/2 inch to ensure it cooks quickly.
Add a half of can of green beans per packet and sprinkle a tablespoon of Lipton onion soup mix over the entire packet.
Gather the foil lengthwise and fold over twice. Then fold it each end up. Tip: Its important that the foil not be folded up too tight. You want it be a little loose so the air can circulate. Put it on the grill for 25-30 minutes.
All you have to do is open and eat! Each person’s meal is individually served. The onion soup mix adds just enough flavor for this ‘meat and potato’ meal. There is no post meal cleanup and all the heat is left outside where it belongs.
Do you have a meal you like to make in a foil packet?
